JENKINS, Alton NilesAge 83 of Springfield, November 18, 2010. Preceded in death by parents, George and Lela Jenkins; brothers, Rev. Jasper, Ralph and Rev. Halbert; sisters, Ethelyn and Rev. Christine. Survived by wife of 54 years, Faye Fielder Jenkins; daughters, Kathy McCall and Vicki Jenkins; sister, Annice Morrow. Mr. Jenkins graduated college from Trevecca Nazarene with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Religion. He went on to Peabody/Vanderbilt, graduating with a Masters in Social Studies. He taught school for many years. Later in life, he and his wife Faye owned and operated Jenkins Books and Supplies. Alton was a wonderful, loving and caring husband, father and friend. He never met a stranger. He really enjoyed spreading the word of the Lord. A celebration of his life will be 3 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010 at Grace Nazarene Church, with Pastor Kenneth Dove officiating. The Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Honorary Pallbearers are the Koinia Sunday School Class. Visitation will be 3 - 8 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn, and 2 - 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
