October 2, 1945 – November 25, 2025
Ann Gayle Gupton Hall was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on October 2, 1945, and passed away on November 25, 2025. She is preceded in death by her parents, Betty Chilton Gupton and Dr. William Edward Gupton. She is survived by her devoted husband, Dwight Joseph Hall; her brothers Henry Gupton MD, and William Gupton MD; her children, Holly Hall Hirschman (Bill) and Dwight Currey Hall (Haylee); and her adored grandsons, Charles Currey Hirschman and William Wesley Hirschman, who knew her lovingly as “Bam Bam.” Being their grandmother was one of the greatest joys of her life, and she treasured every shared adventure—from fishing at the farm to cheering proudly at their crew regattas.
A lifelong Nashvillian, Ann Gayle attended Palmer School, Harpeth Hall School, and Peabody College. She was a cheerleader at Battle Ground Academy and her spirited enthusiasm followed her throughout her life, as she continued to encourage and uplift those around her with grace and generosity.
Her love of the outdoors shaped much of her life. As a passionate horsewoman, she was a dedicated member of the Hillsboro Hounds and Cedar Knob Hounds. Each hunt season brought her immense joy—from hosting opening hunt tea to hilltopping and galloping across the fields of Cornersville. She was a beloved presence within the equestrian community, traveling widely for fox hunting and horse racing. Whether in Ireland or Aiken, Far Hills or Saratoga, she brought warmth, vitality, and her unmistakable spirit to every gathering.
Gardening was another of Ann Gayle’s great loves. Each spring, she delighted in cultivating gardens that yielded a generous bounty of vegetables, herbs, and blossoms—harvests she joyfully shared with family and friends. At home, her wildflower garden flourished with life, attracting bees, butterflies, and birds throughout the seasons, reflecting her deep appreciation for beauty and nature’s rhythms.
A celebration of Ann Gayle’s life will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 4:00–6:00 p.m. at the home of Gigi Lazenby, 121 Page Road, Nashville TN 37025. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Volunteer Horsemen’s Foundation 203 3rd Avenue North Franklin Tn 37064, the Montgomery Bell Academy Crew Team 4001 Harding Rd Nashville Tn 37205, or a charity of your choice.
