Bernie Smith

Bernie H. Smith, age 83, of Nashville, TN; passed away on December 23, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bernie was a proud Air Force veteran that served from 1948 through 1952. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hubert H. Smith and Thelma Smith. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Smith, daughter, Sandra Smith (Tim) Montague, son, Gary (Kathryn) Smith, grandchildren, Garrett Louis Montague, Caitlin Elise Montague, Harrison Walker Smith, and Grant Hudson Smith, as well as numerous, and beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Active pall bearers will be Tim Montague, Garrett Montague, Willie Anderson, Robert Houser, Charles R. Martin, Shayne Lovell, Brian Anderson, and Kent Crowl. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Corum, David Heath, John Whitaker, Arthur Lashlee, and the 1948 graduating class of Perry County High School. A visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, December 26, 2012 in the Parlor of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church from 6:30 until 8 o’clock in the evening. A funeral ceremony will be conducted on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 11 o’clock in the Sanctuary of Hillsboro Presbyterian Church. A graveside ceremony will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at 3 o’clock in Harder Cemetery in Perry County, TN.  The family requests for memorial contributions to be made to either the Salvation Army or the Hillsboro Presbyterian Church.
