

Catherine A. Conners died peacefully at home January 19th. She was preceded in death by parents, Mary Gilmore and John Thomas Conners, Sr. and siblings, Mary Margaret Conners, John T. Conners, Jr., and Anne Conners Broden. She is survived by brother, Dr. James J. Conners (Jackie) of Jacksonville, FL. Affectionately know as “Kaka” by nieces and nephews, Catherine Broden Marek (Don), Ginny Ripley (Bob), John T. Conners III (Margaret), Elly McLain, Jeanne Schaedle, Richard Gilmore Conners (Holly), David Conners (Teresa), Nancy Goldin (George) of Rome, GA, Jim Conners (Maureen), Amy Conners and J.J. Conners, Jr. (Sarah) of Jacksonville, FL and dear friend, Jayne Jones. She is also survived by 50 great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Catherine was born March 27, 1931 and attended Peabody Demonstration School and graduated from St. Cecilia Academy. She attended Ward-Belmont College and graduated with a B.A. and M.A. from Vanderbilt University where she was a charter member of Chi Omega Sorority. She taught junior high students at Waverly Belmont and W.A. Bass Junior High schools for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church where in recent years she enjoyed the fellowship of the Sunshine Club. She was a volunteer for St. Thomas Hospital for 23 years.
Catherine was an avid fan of the Titans and Vanderbilt. She enjoyed reading, traveling, and cooking. She inspired all with her deep faith in God, dedication to her family, and service to the children she taught and the organizations and causes she loved. She will be remembered as a gifted cook who made the best pound cake in Nashville.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral to be held at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at St Henry Catholic Church - 6401 Harding Pike 37205. Interment to follow at Calvary Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or St. Henry’s Catholic Church.
