Clara May Benedict, Age 94, of Donelson, Tennessee passed away Tuesday morning, February 13, 2018, at Skyline Alive Hospice in Nashville. She was born August 21, 1923 and was the daughter of Howard Irving Benedict and Lula May Compton Benedict. Her brother, James Howard Benedict died as a young child of diphtheria in 1917.
Clara May “grew up” in the Donelson Church of Christ where her father was an elder. She became a member of the Lebanon Rd. Church of Christ in 1984 where she was a member until her death. Clara May loved the Lord and is known for her gracious service to the community and the church. She taught Bible classes and volunteered at Lakeshore Heartland for many years. She was a graduate of David Lipscomb University and Peabody Graduate School. She taught and served as a guidance counselor at Cohn, Two Rivers and Pearl High Schools.
She will be missed by many relatives and friends. Among them are her dear cousin, Sam Bradley and family. The family would like to express special appreciation to Connie Beaty, Clara May’s dear friend, for her loving care to Clara May over the years.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11:00am at Hibbet Hailey Funeral Home on Donelson Pike. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery on Lebanon Rd. Family and friends will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Cohn High School Class of 1959.
The family will greet friends on Friday the 16th from 4pm to 8pm and again on the 17th from 10am until the time of service.
