Born in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, he grew up in Summertown, Tennessee. He was the son of Lawrence Henry and Myrtle Lilliemae (Hunter) Pyles. He graduated from Draughn's Business College in 1955 and served in the Army for two years. He had a career in transportation, working at all levels of the companies he served.
He was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church. He enjoyed taking part in church leadership and the men's club, playing golf with his friends, and his time as an auctioneer. He was a lifelong servant and enjoyed nothing more than helping a neighbor.
His primary focus in life was to cultivate an environment of love and support for his family. As a husband and father, he dedicated his life and his time to his wife and daughters. As a grandfather and great-grandfather, he was a role model and a pushover for all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Doris (Strickland) Pyles, daughters Kim Joyce and Terri Breece (Doug), grandchildren Clay Breece and Andrew Joyce (Taylor), great-grandchildren Allie Ray and Beau Christopher Joyce.
Visitation will be held Saturday, January 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A Celebration of Life will occur Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 11:30 AM with a graveside service immediately following.
