Don Douglas Schrope, 75, of Brentwood, TN went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, November 18, 2022, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was born to parents, Walter Douglas Schrope and Anna Marguerite Schrope, on May 19, 1947, in Wurtland, KY.
Don graduated from Central High School in Nashville, TN and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Trevecca Nazarene College and a Master’s degree in Education, Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University. It was at Trevecca that Don met Carole, his wife of 54 years. They have two children, Amy and Don II.
Don was a devoted Christian, wonderful husband, father, teacher, and coach. He was an avid reader, loved working crossword puzzles, playing cards, watching sports, ballroom dancing with Carole, and yearly ski trips with his family. He faithfully attended Trevecca Community Church for 71 years. During his 31-year teaching career, he taught U.S. History at both Meigs Jr High School and John Overton High School. His teaching extended beyond the confines of the classroom to working at Camp Sonshine, campus security team, and coaching softball, basketball, and cross-country.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Douglas Schrope, Anna Marguerite (Schrope) Ingram, and step-father Robert Ingram. He is survived by his wife, Carole; his children, Amy (Patrick) Noon and Don (Abbie) Schrope II; grandchildren Baity Noon, Johnny Noon, and Olivia Schrope; sister Mollie (Mickey) Cundall; brothers Bracken (Gail) Ingram and Rob Ingram.
A celebration of Don’s life will be held at Trevecca Community Church, 335 Murfreesboro Road, Nashville, TN 37210 on Monday, November 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM with a time of visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Trevecca Community Church’s Nazarene Mission International Council and/or KidPOWER Crossbridge Inc.
