In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandmother, Emma Garcia Duran.
He attended college studying pre-med and later married the love of his life, Angela Velez in Los Angeles, California.
Eddie started working with HOREX electronics Inc. as a supervisor and then became an entrepreneur opening many successful businesses.
Eddie will always be remembered as a Loving Husband, Father and Grandfather who always put his family first. He loved traveling, swimming and photography. He enjoyed helping people in the community, especially immigrants who were starting out fresh here in Nashville. He was known for his fun-loving personality, which allowed him to make friends with everyone he met. His ability to cheer up and make anyone laugh, regardless of setting, will be greatly missed.
Eddie enjoyed playing and dancing Salsa music. He loved to record hours of music on cassettes then moved them to cd’s to gift to friends. He loved cooking and enjoyed making many gatherings at his home with friends and family. He also had an immense passion for animals, nature and loved camping. He also loved to relax on his days off in the sofa or bed watching his favorite TV shows in the History channel and Nat Geo Mundo.
Eddie used to sponsor the Nashville Schermerhorn Symphony. He worked by helping others in need and specially his community. He then decided to open one of the first Hispanic community location for immigrants. It was called International Latin Center, located between Thompson lane and Nolensville rd. His love of music led him to start clubs in Los Angeles, CA and Nashville, TN where he would play his beloved salsa music and brought live bands to perform. This was his passion before his health started to decline.
Eddie is survived by his Wife, Angela Velez, Daughter, Cindy S Cuevas (Israel Cuevas), Daughter Shirley Saavedra, Son Steven Saavedra, Daughter Stacey Saavedra; grandchildren, Bradley , Kelvin , Jovan Cuevas and lastly his beloved Pets : Skipper, Pepe, Rocky, Jessica, Bobbi, Mildred, Zorro, Dahlia, Coco, Mya, Kit kat, Kimo, Donnie, Bam bam, Dori, Pebble bear and Sleepy Teddy.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at five o-clock in the afternoon in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from one o'clock in the afternoon until five o'clock in the evening at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
