He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He attended Davidson College before enlisting in the U.S. Army, serving for three years in the early 1960s. He was assigned to La Rochelle, France, where he developed a lifelong appreciation for traveling in Europe.
After returning to the United States, he completed his education at Georgia State University. In the mid-1970s, Edwin moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where he worked as a CPA on Music Row for over 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jewell McFearin Peel and Edwin Best Peel.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cinthia Peel; his children, Edwin B. Peel III and Sandra Christian; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; his brother, James Robert Peel; his sister, Susan Christian; a niece; and several
nephews.
There will be a private family memorial at a later date.
