Elinor “Lin” Hardy Folk, age 101, of Nashville, Tennessee pass ed away peacefully on May 25, 2018. Lin was born on April 9, 1917 in Alhambra, California to the late Albin and Katherine Johnson. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Reau E. Folk, Jr.
Lin was one of the first US Navy WAVES in World War II, serving from 1942-1944. She was a radio producer and announcer on WPLN-FM radio from 1962-1982. In 1972, she was the SESAC-FM Broadcaster of the Year for American Woman in Radio and Television. Lin was proud to be inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame in 2017 at the age of 100.
Graveside service with military honors will be held in Mount Olivet Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame (c/o Skip Woolwine, P.O. Box 158921 – Nashville, TN 37215).
