

Elizabeth Taylor Dickinson, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 6, 2012. Betty was the daughter of the late Mark Alton and Elizabeth Ditto Taylor. She was preceded in death by the love of her life; her husband of almost 56 years, Jacob McGavock Dickinson III; son, Jacob McGavock Dickinson IV; daughter, Louise McGavock Dickinson; grandson, Mark Douglas Jackson. Betty was a beloved mother and grandmother and is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Dickinson Jackson (Charles), Ida Dickinson Dunbar (Bruce); grandchildren, Louise Dickinson Garten (William), Jacob McGavock Dickinson V (Becky), Bruce Clay Dunbar III (Jennifer), McGavock Dickinson Dunbar (Ann), Stewart Campbell Dunbar, Murray Macklyn Webb II, Taylor Dickinson Webb, Elizabeth Hutchings Webb, William Claiborne Dickinson, Hannah Taylor Dickinson, Henry Thompson Dickinson, Jackson McGavock Dickinson; nephew, Thomas Rhodes Dickinson; 8 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 2:30-3:30 p.m., Saturday, June 9, 2012 at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church with the funeral service following at 3:30 p.m. A private family placement will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Betty was born on August 25, 1922 in McKinney, TX. She attended Stephens College in Missouri and the University of Texas, Austin where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta. Betty was a member of St. George's Episcopal Church, served on the Altar Guild, a sustaining member of the Junior League of Nashville, Colonial Dames of America, Centennial Club, Belle Meade Country Club, former board member of Ladies Hermitage Association, Brookmeade Garden Club and a longtime volunteer with The Red Cross and Girl Scouts of America. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, 4800 Belmont Park Terrace, Nashville, TN 37215; Nashville Rescue Mission, 639 Lafayette Street, Nashville, TN 37203; or charity of your choice .
