Born in Nashville on January 25, 1941, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Noel Warf and Rosetta Sullivan Warf. A graduate of Central High School, she remained deeply rooted in her community and its history throughout her life.
Evelyn enjoyed a distinguished career in public service, serving as an Executive Aide to Tennessee State Senators for the State of Tennessee until her retirement in 2001. Her professional dedication was matched by her devotion to her family and her faith; she was a long-standing and faithful member of the Brentwood Church of Christ.
On December 2, 1961, she married Robert Wayne Henderson, with whom she shared nearly 40 years of marriage until his passing in 2000. Family and heritage were the cornerstones of Evelyn’s life. She cherished time spent with extended family and loved them dearly. She took great pride in knowing her family history and staying connected to her roots. For decades, she made the annual trek to Hudgins Family Cemetery in Fairview for Decoration Day to tend to the grounds and place flowers in honor of those who came before her.
An avid gardener and member of The Perennial Plant Society of Middle Tennessee, Evelyn’s home was often defined by the beauty of her flowers. She also possessed a keen eye for antiques, a passion she shared deeply with her sister, Loretta. Together, they spent decades exploring roadside shops and antique malls, searching for treasures.
She is survived by her two sons, Bert Laine Henderson (Tracy) and Bradley Noel Henderson; her sister, Loretta Warf Johnson; two grandsons, Chris (Jordan) and Mitchell (Jessica); and five great-grandchildren, Isabella, Elias, Elaina, Selah, and Ivan, with two more great-grandchildren expected to join the family this spring.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, from 11:00am till 1:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park. A funeral service will follow at 1:00pm.
Evelyn will be laid to rest next to her husband at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in Evelyn’s name to Alive Hospice in Nashville.
