

Born January 11, 1937 in Henderson, KY, she was the only child of Ollie and Dell Tignor. She received a Bachelor of Science from the University of KY (1958), a Masters of Social Work from the University of TN (1970) and a Doctorate of Law from the Nashville School of Law (1980).
A longtime resident of Russellville, KY, she moved to Nashville in 1977 and began working as a social worker at St. Thomas Hospital. She became director of the Social Service department in 1986, and was a former President of the Tennessee Chapter of The National Association of Social Workers. After retiring in 1994, she volunteered her time in St. Thomas’ medical library and served as president of volunteers. She also served on the St. Thomas Health Foundation Board. An active member at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, she also enjoyed volunteering for the Room in the Inn.
She was married to John Denton Dockins of Logan County, KY from 1958 until his death in 2003. She married Neil Farrar of Nashville in 2012.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters from her marriage to Mr. Dockins:
Sharon Dockins of Nashville and Neika Tillman of Vienna, VA; four granddaughters: Jordan, Kelsey, Kristen, and Lauren Tillman of Vienna, VA; and two sons-in-law: Louis Cage of Nashville and Tom Tillman of Vienna, VA.
A memorial mass will be held at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in Nashville, TN on Friday, August 1 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Kibby and Deacon Thales Finchum officiating. Visitation with the family will be for one hour prior to the service and a reception following the service in St. Albert’s Hall (adjacent to the church) until 12:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Room in the Inn (Campus for Human Development), Alive Hospice, and the St. Thomas Foundation.
