

Dr. Gene Warren Turner age 87, died on January 22, 2013. His parents were Julia Massey and Albert Turner. He attended Wilson County TN schools, Watertown High School, Amy veteran, WWII, PhilippinesTheatre. He was a UT Knoxville graduate with B.S. and M.S. degrees in agriculture and a doctorate in educational administration. His 35 year career of enthusiastic service with UT Extension Service took him to several counties ending in Jackson as Associate Supervisor of Extension programs in West TN District I. Dr. Turner was a dedicated deacon/church leader. He organized a Lions Club in Decaturville and served in various offices in Lawrenceburg, Jackson, and Brentwood Kiwanis. His life goal to research his Turner history produced a published book. He was extremely active in Civic efforts after retirement. His marriage of 61 years to Charlotte Thigpen of Memphis produced sons Wes (Vicki), Brentwood, and Glenn (Laura), Sevierville. Grandchildren are: Becca Hazard (Rob), Sarah Hunter (Kyle), Rev. Will Turner (Jenni), Kristen Hodges (Houston), and Rachel Turner. Great grandchildren are: Carrick, Jack, Sophie Rose, Holden, Warren, Turner, Miles, Elijah, and Grady. Siblings: Harold Turner deceased (Lois Ann), Bob Turner (Mary Frances), Mary Ann Brown (J.W.) David Turner (Nancy), Nelda Queener (James deceased), Raymond Turner (Barbara). Funeral at First Baptist Church Nashville, January 25th at 2:00 p.m., Visitation at Brentwood Roesch-Patton Funeral Home 9010 Church Street East, Brentwood, TN on January 24th from 5:00 until 7:30 in the evening.. Memorials may be made to TN Baptist Children' TN Homes or TN 4-H Foundation.
