

Harriet Virginia Lott Thompson graduated to heaven on January 3rd, 2016. She was born on August 8, 1928 in Clermont , Florida, and was the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. Walter M. Lott, of Nashville. Harriet was loved by all who knew her. She, along with 4 brothers and sisters, grew up in First Church of the Nazarene, was a lover of Jesus and lived an abundant life filled with service to her Lord. She grew up in East Nashville, graduated from East High where she was an ALL-CITY Basketball player, tennis player, and member of the GEMS (Girls’ Emergency Military Service). She attended Asbury College and Peabody Collage and married the “Love of her Life”, Charlie(now 89 yrs), at 21, and they lived most of their married life (66 years ) in Nashville, where they raised 3 daughters, Brenda (Clark) Lawrence, Teresa (Randy) Locke, and Dianne (Gary) Bond, and were surrounded by 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Harriet loved to develop the talents and abilities of others and taught them how to glorify God, especially in the areas of music, art, sports and the spiritual realms. She loved traveling with her husband, on mission trips (Judson Baptist Church) around the world, sharing Jesus’ Love with all whom she met. She was a prolific poet, songwriter, musician (pianist and organist in church), accompanied her daughters professionally, Bible Teacher, Choir member, Church Secretary, worked for Lifeway in Church Resources, and also began the Baptist Tennis League, and continued playing tennis into her 80’s. Her greatest achievements, however, were being a MEMA to her grandchildren (her Cousin Camps were AWESOME!), whom she adored, and being a loving mother and a dedicated godly wife to her “Charlieboy”. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Ruthelia Buchi (Ernest), Rene Bean (Don), and brother, Robert M.(Bob) Lott, one surviving brother, Walter P.(Buddy) Lott (wife, Betty,sister-in-law), and Carolyn (Mrs. Bob) Lott, sister-in-law. Along with her wonderful husband , Charles Wheeler Thompson, 3 adoring daughters and their husbands, Harriet is survived by grandchildren: Chaz(Jaime) Lawrence, Kaley Lawrence, and Lacey Lawrence; Cortney Locke Smith (Ryan “Bubba”), Jody Locke (Leah), Tiffany Locke Bain (Walt), Lindsey Locke Dartt (Taylor); Neal Bond (Kristen), Lydia Bond Barnes (Ross), Rachel Bond (Teacher ELIC, China), and Tori Bond Tuttle (Michael), & 15 great grandchildren who loved her dearly. Serving as pallbearers - Jody Locke, Neal Bond, Russell Buchi, Ross Barnes, Taylor Dartt, Michael Tuttle, Ryan (Bubba) Smith. Honorary pallbearers, “Marvelous Mix” Sunday School Class, the Gideons. Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at eleven-thirty in the morning at Judson Baptist Church on Franklin Road. Interment to follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery. Gathering of family and friends on Friday from four o’clock until eight o’clock at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
