

CAMPBELL, Helen “Pie” Stewart, February 2, 1936 - September 29, 2012. Age 76, died Saturday morning surrounded by family and beloved caregiver. Born on the 2nd of February, 1936 in Nashville, TN to George Knox Campbell and Frances Dustin Campbell. She was preceeded in death by her parents and stepfather, John W. Murphree and sister, Patricia Brewer Groat, step-brothers, John W. Murphree, Jr. (Marie), Thomas Murphree and step-sister, Kay Fossick. She is survived by her sister, Frances Huggins (Hooper). Pie was a loving aunt to Bill Huggins (Susan), Sissy Allen, Marguerite Clayton (Neal), Catherine Brewer, Robert Brewer, Patricia Wilson (Chris), Helen Graves (Red), Mallie Fletcher (Don), Knox Brewer, Neika Wright (John), Jack Murphree, Lynn Rocco (August), Janice Murphree, Elizabeth Murphree, Tommy Fossick (Ashley) and Lance Fossick (Shellie). Pie’s pride and joy was her own creation Pie’s Party House. Originally located in her parents’ guest home on Harding Place and later relocated to a log cabin on Highway 100. The party house was a place where children could come and be spell-bound by the wonderful magical theme parties. Her playschool was a place where children could be creative and have fun being themselves. Pie always said, “These children are my sweet little darlings from all over Nashville; they are the children I never had.” Pie gave a lot of joy too many friends, family and children over the years. She was a member of a Wine Club and the Town & Country Garden Club. The members were dear friends and a very special part of her life. A celebration of Pie’s life will be conducted at two o’clock on Tuesday, October 2nd, 2012 at Westminster Presbyterian Church with visitation preceeding the service at twelve thirty. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Westminster Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice.
