Nashville – Howard Jay Tepper, born October 24, 1931 in New York City (Washington Heights) passed away peacefully on September 20, 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Tepper was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Sarah Tepper and his sisters Florence Lampert and Norma Bednowitz.
Mr. Tepper is survived by his wife of 28 years, the love of his life, Jacqueline; his son Louis and his nieces and nephews who adored their uncle- Lynne Lazarski, Alan (Sandy) Bednowitz; David (Nancy) Bednowitz, Marc (Teresa) Lampert and Lewis (Linda) Lampert. Mr. Tepper was a Great Uncle / Grandfather to Sarah, Dana, Jason and Adam Bednowitz, Gabrielle, Josh and Sylvia Lampert. Additionally, Mr. Tepper is survived by three step-children; Shari (Bob) Warnke, Michael (Jayne) Klein and Holly Klein and several step-grandchildren (Philip Oliphant, Ryan, Adam and Tyler Klein).
Mr. Tepper attended City College in New York City and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Accountancy. Having worked with several companies post-graduation, Howard's most notable business achievements were in senior leadership executive positions with Bernstein, Bernstein and Wile CPAs; Tepper, Frank, Hirzel and Mullins CPAs; Doug Nash Engineering and Process Systems. Since 1996, he has provided financial stability consulting services to a broad profile of clients and friends.
Howard enjoyed a strong passion for sports including a special love for thorough-bred horse racing, his many four-legged friends including Foster, Baxter and Lucy; great food (RIBS!) and family. As the patriarch of his family and good friend and confidant to many over the years, Howard mentored, coached and inspired all to maximize their full potential and to live rewarding and happy lives.
Special appreciation to his devoted caregiver, Martha Morrow and the staff of the Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Congregation Ohabai Shalom at 5015 Harding Pike, Nashville, Tennessee 37205 where Mr. Tepper has been a member for many years.
Visitation will be conducted at the Temple on Monday September 24, 2018 at 5:00 PM with minyan service, all are welcome.
