

James Denton Douglas, 76, of Springville, TN, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Paris, TN. He was born on May 17, 1948, in Shelbyville, TN, to the late Leonard Denton Douglas and Reatha Opal McClain.
James was preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 years, Juanita Douglas, who he married on February 9, 1968, in Montgomery, Alabama. Together, they built a life of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
James was a dedicated general contractor and owned his own business, known for his hardworking nature and commitment to his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Family meant the world to him, and he treasured every moment spent with them. James enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including fishing, gardening, cooking, and spending time with his beloved dog, Oreo. He was also passionate about country music and loved singing and dancing, bringing joy to all who knew him.
He is survived by his daughters, Denise (Wayne) Abbott, Cheryl Douglas, Sabrina Renee (Gary) Abbott, Shannon Michelle (John) Rohelier, and Brittany Douglas; grandchildren, Kenneth "KJ" (Lauren) Strong, James David (Irina) Rohelier, Jacob Rohelier, Savannah Rohelier; great-grandchildren, Abel J. Strong, Lydia B. Rohelier, and Layla D. Rohelier; along with many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a special friend, Shirley Pullum. He also leaves behind a host of dear friends who will remember him fondly.
James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Juanita Douglas, and his parents, Leonard Denton Douglas and Reatha Opal McClain.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM, and on Wednesday February 5, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 2:30 PM. The funeral service will take place at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, with an entombment to follow at 3:30 PM. Pallbearers will include Kenneth "KJ" Strong, James Rohelier, Jacob Rohelier, and Charles Ballard.
In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made to Saint Jude's Children Hospital in honor of James.
