Jimbo Flatt of Donelson, TN, age 62, was called suddenly to the arms of Jesus on April 10, 2020. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey and Evelyn Flatt and his beloved little beagle, Buster. He is survived by three aunts - Pearl Kinle of Old Hickory, TN, Flossie Ford of Lebanon, TN and Dorothy Houston of Milan, TN and brother Ronnie Flatt of Hendersonville, TN. Also surviving is one uncle, Carnes Flatt of Old Hickory, TN, in addition to numerous cousins. He was employed at Athens Paper Company for 42 years.
Jimbo was quiet and shy when you first met him however once you got to know him, you found out quickly that his two passions were bowling and short track truck racing. He was a professional bowler and won many awards and trophies during his years playing on local leagues. He gained many friends and admirers from the time he started bowling as child on up to three years ago when he had to stop because of heart issues. If he wasn’t bowling, he was at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, spotting for the J &D Chassis Super Sport Truck Division team at local races held during the summer.
While unprepared for his sudden passing, we know he has gone on to a better place with no more pain and suffering. Though we are hurting, we know we will see him again in that beautiful land called Heaven.
Rest well Jimbo – we love you.
Special thanks to Brother David Taft and Brother Gary Bourgeois for counseling Jimbo during his recent times of need.
A memorial service will be held in the future once restrictions due to the COVID virus are lifted.
In lieu of flowers/remembrances, the family requests donations in Jimbo’s name be made to Temple Baptist Church, 110 Fellowship Lane, Old Hickory, TN 37138 or the charity of your choice.
