Jimmy,
  We were blood brothers, remember?  Inseparable. Friends forever and yet our lives took us so far apart, rarely  crossing paths in later years but for fleeting moments and special occasions.  
But in our youth, those halcyon days, those golden days...  Catching crawdads in the slough, playing pool in the attic, riding our bikes to Buffalo Rock, malted milk ball fights, fishing all night at Silica Sand (and fishing with M-80's, your idea not mine.) Our boyhood souls were deeply intertwined.
We worked those steamy summer days together detassling corn.  I sang the Battle Hymn but you sang Dixie even louder and you never gave up your love and pursuit of Tennessee and returned as soon as you got the chance. 
   Three years ago you came to my father's funeral.  Thank you for that. 
  I have in my hand the last letter you sent to me.  October 17, 1973.  You signed off saying "I've got to go so I'll be seeing you I hope."  I hope so too.  May that circle be unbroken.

I enjoyed working with Jim. He was always a great help. He had one of the greatest sense of humors. Constantly cutting up about something and always putting a smile on my face. You will be missed Jim.
