Jane Dunn Jackson

Jane Dunn Jackson passed on to the fullness of life on Thursday, September 20, 2012. She was 77 years old. Born on March 12, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee to John F. and Ella Dunn, Jane attended David Lipscomb High School where she was on the girls varsity basketball team, was a varsity cheerleader and Editor in Chief of the Pony Express. She met her future husband, Robert “Bobby” Jackson during her senior year and married him on live TV on the Bride and Groom Show in New York City on July 23, 1954. Jane moved from Nashville to the Detroit, Michigan area in 1959 when Mr. Jackson was relocated to the Ford Motor Company headquarters. She earned her Associate Degree at Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn Michigan in 1966, becoming a Registered Nurse that same year, fulfilling her lifelong dream. Later, she went on to earn her B.S. in Nursing at Mercy College of Detroit in 1982. She joined the William Beaumont Hospital nursing staff in Royal Oak, Michigan in 1967, where she served for 30 years until her retirement in 1997. Jane also enjoyed serving as a volunteer in many capacities, including Sunday School teacher at the Strathmoor Church of Christ in Detroit, Girl Scout Leader, Cub Scout Den Mother and as a member of the Board of Directors for the Metropolitan Detroit Youth Chorus from 1972 through 1977. Jane returned to the Nashville area with her husband in 2005. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Robert G. Jackson, and is survived by her four children, Lee (Sharron) Jackson, Lynn Walsh (Bob Brisco), Beth (Mike) Anctil and Wade (Amy) Jackson, and thirteen grandchildren. Visitation is planned for Sunday, September 23rd, from 1:00pm to 4:00 pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204. Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, September 24th at 11:30 am at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
