

John T. Smithson, 81, of Rossville, GA passed from this life on Sunday, June 27, 2021 surrounded by his wife and daughters. He was a full time minister of the Church of Christ for 60 years and an adjunct college professor at Magnolia Bible College, East Mississippi Community College, and Covenant College for a collective 35 years.
John T. was motivated by a deep faith in and love of God and quietly went about doing good. He had a servant heart, loved church family reunions, Friday night gospel singings, writing poems for his children and his 6 grandchildren, and running. He had a sharp wit and a keen sense of humor. John T. also really enjoyed doing research and authored and published seven books.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 58 years, Ann; a brother David of Daphne, AL; daughters Lisa Lammons (Eric) of St. Augustine, FL and Amy Grant (John) of Lebanon, TN; grandchildren Katelyn Walter (Ian) of Jacksonville, FL, Kristen Portillo (Luis) of Shanghai, China, Kyle Lammons of Jacksonville, FL, Rachel Syler (Noah) of Iwakuni, Japan, Claire Grant of Lebanon, TN, and Alison Grant of Lebanon, TN; great-grandchildren Bryce Avery Walter, Brigham Smithson Walter, and Lydia Ryn Syler; step-mother Osalene Smithson of Knoxville, TN, and several cousins. He is predeceased by his parents John T. and Rene Smithson.
The family wishes to thank the SICU staff at Erlanger for their dedicated care and concern for John T. last week.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from five until six o'clock in the evening on Friday, July 2, 2021 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at six o'clock in the evening on Friday, July 2, 2021 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home where the service will be streamed live @Woodlawn-Roesch.
Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
