Fortier, K. Thomas, 87, passed away on January 26, 2021. Tom was born March 30, 1933 in Lyon Mountain, NY. He served in the army as an MP from 1951 – 1953. After the army, he worked several different jobs to support his growing family. He finally found his niche in the insurance industry, where he worked as a very popular safety consultant.
Tom brought his family to Nashville in 1963 when the insurance carrier transferred him here to assist with the safety aspects of the construction of Interstate 40 across Tennessee. Tom was an expert in blasting safety. He was soon offered a position with the insurance agency, McKee, Geny, and Thornton. He worked until joining Carroon and Black in 1983. The last few years of his career, he assisted his son with the growth of Fortier Loss Control Consultants, Inc.
Tom was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and, formerly, a member of the Knights of Columbus. He greatly enjoyed golf with his friends.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Ann. He is survived by four children: Lee Fortier (Georgianna), Tom Fortier (Yolanda), Jim Fortier (Pam Rutherford), and Kimberly Fortier Jones (Casey).
Visitation will be Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 9:00 am until 10:00 am at Holy Rosary Church (192 Graylynn Drive). A Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
