Kathy Lambert Jonte, born August 13, 1961, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 14, 2024. She is survived by her daughter Deena Griffith, grandson Weylyn Griffith, brother Carl Lambert, and nephew and best friend Mitchell Abbot.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Jackie Glen Jonte, parents Carl Wilson and Mary Katherine Lambert, siblings Judy Anderson (King) and Gladys Wallace (King), Godmother Mary Ann Hailey, and daughter Kimberly Ann Jonte (whom she has surely not stopped holding since walking through those pearly gates), and a sweet fur baby Miley.
Kathy grew up in the Woodbine area of Nashville on Radnor Street. According to her siblings, she loved attending church and sang in the choir both in church as well as in high school. She also liked roller skating.
Kathy spent some time living in Florida where she loved going to the Bay area. While in Florida she worked at Hardee’s and shared her memories about making homemade biscuits every day.
Kathy loved Christmas time and found joy in making the magic of the season come alive for her grandson. She loved everything Disney but especially Eeyore. She loved lighthouses and sea turtles because it reminded her of the beach. She enjoyed playing cards and board games and doing most anything with her grandson Weylyn. He was her joy and they loved time together baking, playing, watching movies, going on adventures and eating their favorite snacks together and anything to make him smile.
Kathy was a dedicated employee of Walmart for more than 30 years. In her time there, she made beautiful friendships that were very special to her.
Kathy will always be known for and remembered for the joy she spread to others.
Everyone that she encountered was greeted with a smile, regardless of what she was going through. Everyone she cared for felt the love she had for them. She was always sure to share in celebrating birthdays, new babies and holidays. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and never put herself first, if others needed help. So many people have shared that they knew her as the happiest person they ever met.
“Miss Kathy” is remembered by her daughter’s friends for welcoming them into her home and making them snacks and letting them go swimming or helping to create games to keep them happy and entertained while creating a safe place for them to spend time together. She did all of this selflessly while she should have been sleeping since she worked the night shift. She was a band mom to so many when they were teenagers and all of them remember wanting to go to Walmart to shop late in the evening because they would get to see Miss Kathy.
Her daughter, Deena, was her world and she was so beyond proud of her and the mother she is. Kathy was known as Kathrine, Kat-Kat, and Miss Kathy, but was most proud of the titles Mama and Gigi.
Kathy’s love for others, willingness to help where needed, and endless spreading of joy will forever live on in those fortunate to have known her.
