

A celebration of the wonderful life of Margaret Kerr Dunkerley will be held on Wednesday, April 30th, 2014 at the Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, Nashville, TN for an informal sharing of memories at 10 a.m.
Margaret passed from her earthly home on Friday, April 18th, 2014 at the exciting age of 99. She came into this world on February 10th, 1915, the daughter of Walter & Lorraine Hutchison Blair in Guthrie, Kentucky. She was a graduate of Elkton High School, Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, TN and furthered her education at Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee.
Margaret was the widow of Sam Kerr and Bob Dunkerley. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 3 younger sisters. She is survived by her only daughter, Mary Lou Philpot (Don) of Frankfort, KY, her 3 grandchildren Sam (Marjorie) Philpot of Leavenworth, Kansas, Jenni (David) Clark of Frankfort, KY and Bradley Philpot of Burlington, KY. She is also survived by her step-son Bob (Nancy) Dunkerley and their sons John and Mark (Beville) Dunkerley. Other surviving family members include: her six great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
Margaret was a devoted mother: she was a loyal, caring classroom teacher at Cohn High School for over 30 years. She was a faithful wife, companion and care giver to Sam Kerr for 50 years and Bob Dunkerley for 17 years. Margaret was a member of the Elkton Baptist Church and Vine Street Christian Church. Margaret lived her Christian faith every day. She was an advocate for professional educators; live long member of TEA & NEA. She served as Past President of MNEA.
Margaret was loved and admired by all her family members and students as well as a multitude of friends. She was respected and respectful, there were no insignificant people in her eyes. She was the embodiment of truth, grace, wisdom, honor and she was fun loving. Our lives have been blessed by having known her. She will be cherished and remembered by many.
