
She was born December 6, 1921, in the Germantown sector of North Nashville to Henry and Ella Clark Brackman who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, William Curry Barry, Jr., her oldest son William “Buster” Barry III, her infant daughter, Angela Marion, and all her siblings Henry and William Clark Brackman, Catherine Tribble and Claire Keane.
Marion is survived by her 5 sons George “Brazo” (Diana), Joe (Suzie), Phil (Carol), Rick, and Chip (Travis), as well as 3 daughters Beverly, Leanne Reiter (Terry), Ellen and daughter-in-law Kathy Barry (Buster). Additionally, she has 10 grandchildren: Corey Barry (Bree), Beth Barry-Gauthier (John), Kellie Bobo (Patrick), Abby Sanders (Devon), Sarah Barry, Kristen Czech (Wes), Brittany Allen (Josh), Kathryn Barry, Alexis and Mark Reiter. As well as 7 great-grandchildren: Clark, Addison, and Allie Bobo, Becket Barry, Jack Gauthier, Caroline Sanders, and Lincoln Czech.
Numerous nieces and nephews and their families also count Aunt Marion as part of their family heritage.
Marion had a long history in the Catholic community of Nashville. She graduated from St Bernard Academy in 1939, married at the Cathedral of the Incarnation in 1948, raised her children in the Christ the King community from 1956-1980 and was a long-time volunteer at Catholic Charities/Ladies of Charity Thrift Shop. Marion contributed her secretarial skills to Christ the King School, Father Ryan High School, and St. Bernard Academy as an active member of the PTA. In addition, she was a reliable chauffeur of the Sing-Out-South parent association, helped with fund raising to start the NPTV Communication Arts Council, and was a Eucharistic minister at Christ the King Church.
Marion and Curry retired to Panama City Beach, FL in 1988 where she continued her volunteer work with the Ladies of Charity Thrift Shop. She was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Bernadette's Catholic Church, President of the Women's Council, and a member of the Altar Society. Marion and Curry returned to Smyrna, TN in 2003 and became active members of St. Luke's Catholic Church.
SERVICE INFO: Visitation at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Smyrna, Monday, Dec. 7 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm; Funeral Mass, Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 11:00 am, with preview at 10:00 am, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
PALLBEARERS: Dutch Brackman, Chris Brackman, Tom Brackman, Ray Brackman, Bob Brackman, David Brackman, Vincent Keane, and John Keane. Honorary pallbearers: Suzanne Graham, Ann Tribble Olesky, Jane Tribble Dowdy, Lindy Keane Carter, and Ed Dillon.
