Mary Priscilla Wright, 66 of Smyrna, Tennessee, passed away Monday, January 9, 2023 peacefully at home. Mary was born to the late RB and Lila Marjorie (Walker) Wright on February 24, 1956 in Nashville, Tennessee.
The first job that Priscilla had was at the nursing home close to Parkview hospital as a Candy striper. That's where she developed a love for elderly people, and a passion for helping others. One of the nurses there took an interest in Priscilla, saw that she had great potential as being a caregiver, and gave her an opportunity to advance at Parkview. She wore many hats during her life with her Parkview/Centennial family, telemetry tech was the hat she wore the longest. She took great pride in her work. She would often say, “That’s somebody’s Mothers’ heart I'm watching. They deserve the best I can give and more.” She loved everyone, from the doctors to the garage attendants.
Her greatest accomplishment, however, was her pride and joy, her one and only child, Joey. As one might say, they grew up together, the two of them against the world. They shared a love of music, love of laugher, and loved each other fiercely.
She was an active member of Hickerson Station Church of Christ where she found a beloved church family. She loved singing hymns in church and in fact played multiple instruments. She could learn to play any instrument or song by ear.
Priscilla is survived by her devoted family, Joey (Amanda) Corlew, Chandler Corlew, Samantha Vance, Anna Vance, Joel (Virgie) Wright, Alene (David) Miller, Penny Irwin, Fred Smotherman and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family & friends for Mary Priscilla will be held Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, followed by a celebration of life from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM.
