Mary Jane Smith of Nashville, TN, passed away on September 1, 2025, at the age of 88. She was born on December 29, 1936, in Mannington, West Virgina. Her family lived on Plum Run Rd, and she lived there until she met the love of her life Jay J. Smith.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Jay J. Smith, son Jon Mark Smith and daughter Jo Lynn Smith, her Mother Olive Toothman and Father Denzil Toothman.
Mary is survived by her sister Louise Toothman Hayes and her children Janet Smith Sexton (Garry), Sandra J Smith, Donna Smith Seger (Dan), and Thomas Jay Smith (Kellie) and Karen Adele Sipes (Kevin). Mary and Jay had 6 children and 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Jay was a Christian Minster for 55 years, plus owning a Travel Agency. Mary and Jay and family toured over 89 different countries. The last 5 years Mary started painting pictures of animals, landscapes, and friends. Most of her paintings she gave away as gifts.
On Sunday the 1st, Mary laid down for a quick nap with her two cats, Moe and Millie and then peacefully passed away.
Mary leaves great memories of her love, her faith, resilience.
Family and friends are invited to her visitation on Friday the 5 at Woodlawn funeral home from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. The Funeral Service will take place in the chapel at Woodlawn.
