Born on May 2, 1952, in Davidson County, Nelson was the son of the late George and Margaret Tomlinson. A proud graduate of Hume-Fogg High School, Nelson went on to become the founder and co-owner of Phoenix Granite and Marble, where his passion for craftsmanship and dedication to quality built a lasting legacy.
On February 22, 1974, he married the love of his life, Julia Tomlinson. Together, they shared 51 years of marriage marked by love, laughter, and shared dreams.
Nelson had a deep love for life and its simple joys—boating on the water, cheering on the Tennessee Titans, vintage cars, and spending time with animals, especially his beloved blonde Labrador, Tulip.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Julia Tomlinson; his sister, Barbara Aldridge (Douglas); and several close nieces and nephews, along with many loyal employees who considered him a mentor and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
A graveside service to honor Nelson’s life will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
Nelson will be remembered for his warm heart, strong work ethic, and the lasting impact he made on his family, friends, and community.
