Opal L. Brown Grinder

She is survived by her devoted daughters, Jan Paone and Julie (Jeff) Sweeney ; sister, Sarah (Jimmy) Tarkington; brother, Burrell (Lynn) Brown; grandsons, Lesley Paone (Lara Lane) and Christopher Sweeney, and great grandson, Baylor Paone.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, Raymond E. Grinder; parents, Finley and Mavis Brown, and sister, Wanda Davenport.

Opal was born and raised in Hohenwald, TN, where she met and married her high school sweetheart, Raymond. She spent 59 happy years being the light of his life and the sunshine in his world. She worked as a hair stylist for a number of years and was always found to be looking sharp and well put together even when that was a real effort. She was always one with a laugh and a quick retort. Her family was a priority in her life, raising two daughters. She was a fiercely loyal grandmother who volunteered at school so she could be close to her special needs grandson. She loved to shop (she never met a shoe she didn’t like) and visit with friends of all ages. She made an impression everywhere she went!

A heartfelt thank you to Sharon Greer, Betty Winfree and Sonya & Joe Fagan who made her life so much better.

The family will receive friends at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home on Saturday, July 2, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

A Graveside Service will be held on Sunday, July 3, 2016 at Swiss Cemetery in Hohenwald, TN, at 2:00 pm.
