

She earned her B.A. from LaGrange College in 1944 followed by her Master's Degree from Peabody College in 1967. She became associated with Peabody College first as director of The Susan Gray School for developmentally disabled preschoolers located at The Kennedy Center at Peabody College of Vanderbilt University. She went on to train and educate teachers of these children throughout the country.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Grady Goodroe; her daughters Gay (Duke) Rose and Lynn (Bill) Callahan; five grandchildren Barrett Rose, Duke (Laura) Rose, BJ (Amanda) Callahan, Joey (Meaghan Daniel) Callahan, and Kathleen (Allan) Cecil; and two great granddaughters.
A Memorial service will be held at ten o'clock in the morning on Saturday, April 26, 2014 in Scales Chapel at West End United Methodist Church with visitation to follow the service in Reed Hall.
