A native of Middle Tennessee, Mr. Campbell was born in Nashville on October 15, 1944, to the late Sadie and Cecil Campbell. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 49 years, Marrianne Campbell; his son, Gordon Campbell; and his brother, Cecil Campbell. He is survived by his closeknit family, including his children; Angela Rice (Chris) and Grant Campbell (Amy), his five grandchildren; Britton Brown (Matt), Claire Rice, Jack Campbell, Will Campbell and Connor Hamm, his great-grandchildren; Evie Brown and Grayson Hamm, his brothers; Roger Campbell (Terry) and Landy Campbell (Beth), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Campbell spent his working years as a self-employed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) before he retired after a long career. His family and friends remember him as a one-of-a-kind, disciplined, fun, big-hearted man who loved taking family trips and was always on his own time. He loved to make or get a ‘deal’ and was always on the hunt for a bargain!
Once he retired, Rex was able to more fully enjoy two of his favorite passions—golf and fishing. He loved the game of golf and could often be found at McCabe Golf Course or one of his other favorite spots around town. He enjoyed fishing in Middle Tennessee, but he was particularly happy when he was on Cotton Bayou Bay located in the heart of the beautiful Alabama Gulf Coast.
He loved his hobbies but there was no doubt that his greatest joy in life was watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow—especially when he was teaching or coaching. His family is incredibly grateful for his long life and the time he invested in good relationships. Rex kept his sense of humor and determination until the end and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
The family appreciates your support and suggests contributions to Tennessee Golf Foundation – Junior Golf Academy in Rex’s name.
