Richard S Gibbons

Richard Seaborn Gibbons Sr., age 88, of Franklin, Tennessee passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 5, 2023, in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Richard was born to the late William Samuel and Lurlene Gibbons, on September 8, 1935, in Prattville, Alabama.

Richard graduated from Pensacola High School and then attended Pensacola Junior College. On August 3, 1957, in Pensacola, he married Shirley Temple. Richard was a hard-working Christian man who raised two sons Ricky and Bobby with the love of his life Shirley J Gibbons. He was a loving father who was actively involved with his children and their sports. Richard loved fishing with Shirley and was quite the storyteller. Richard retired from Sherwin-Williams after 20 years. He spent 18 years with Sentell Brothers Inc. Richard was a Brentwood United Methodist Church member, sang in the choir, and was involved with the Wesley Forum Sunday School. Richard enjoyed fishing and loved the time spent with his dear friend Robert Link. He loved watching his granddaughters play softball. He had a passion for gardening and loved travel and experiencing the great outdoors.

Richard is survived by his sons, Richard Gibbons Jr, and Robert (Sharon) Gibbons; granddaughters, Kristen (Noah) DeHaven, and Traci (Roy) Blakeburn; great-grandsons, Landon and Clayton DeHaven; great-granddaughters, London Kate and Emersyn Blakeburn; step-grandsons, Robert Parsons, Todd Parsons; and step great-grandson, Aaron Parsons.

Other than his parents Richard is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley J. Gibbons; brothers, Samuel Earl Gibbons, and Rayburn Gibbons; sisters, Frances Little and Ann King; Daughter-in-law, Carolyn Gibbons; nephew, Michael King, and David Little.

A gathering of family & friends for Richard will be held Monday, October 9, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
