

Robert David Taylor, age 62, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 7, 2017 after a long battle with a very rare and aggressive form of cancer. He is now in his eternal home with other loved ones who have gone before. Bob was born in Nashville, TN in 1954 and lived here most of his life, graduating from Hillsboro High School in 1973. He attended the University of Tennessee, graduating in 1979 with a Business degree. He entered the insurance field and after working and living in Chattanooga for a short time, returned to Nashville working for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and then opened his own Nationwide Insurance Agency in 1991. He operated that business successfully for over 25 years. He sold the business and retired on January 1, 2017. Bob was a lifelong Methodist and attended both Belmont United Methodist Church and Brentwood United Methodist Church. He was an avid golfer and greatly enjoyed playing golf and going on golf outings with his many friends. He especially enjoyed the annual Father’s Day Golf Trip with 11 of his closest golf buddies which he had gone on each Father’s Day for the past 9 years. Bob was an avid UT Vols fan and he was in the stands cheering them on during each home football game since his graduation. He was a huge Titans fan and was an inaugural season ticket and PSL holder. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, and friend with a contagious sense of humor and always had a big smile on his face. He touched many lives both professionally and personally and he will be greatly missed by all of those whose paths he crossed. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Taylor; mother, Daisy G. Taylor; daughter, Jacqueline Taylor; and sister, Sandra K. Taylor. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Nancy; his son, Scott; his daughter, Stephanie; his sister, Judy (Lou) Ullrich; his brother, Jerry (Beth) Taylor; nieces and nephews, Meghan (Chris) McGuire, Cody Taylor, Blake Taylor, David (Alice) Scott, Thomas Scott, Laura Sneed, Kelsey Sneed; and great niece, Lyla Grace McGuire; sister-in-law, Carol (Rick) Sneed; brother-in-law, Allen (Patsy Scott), brother-in-law, Randy Scott. Visitation and viewing will be held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home from six o’ clock in the evening until eight on Monday, April 10, 2017. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the sanctuary of Belmont United Methodist Church on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at one o' clock in the afternoon with Visitation to be held in the Iris Room one hour prior to service. A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park on Tuesday morning at ten o’ clock. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society or Belmont United Methodist Church.
