

Rev. Samuel David Barnett of Nashville, TN, passed away on February 3, 2017. Preceded in passing by his parents, Harvey Patrick Barnett and Nannie Lou Hall Barnett; his brother, Harvey Patrick Barnett, Jr.; and sister, Mary Frances Medley. Survived by wife, Patricia Lee Barnett of Franklin, TN; children, David Lee Barnett of Clarksville, TN, Linda Kay Barnett Light of Suwanee, GA, and Robin Dawn Barnett Gaietto of Nashville, TN; 10 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Nashville Central High School, Vanderbilt University, Vanderbilt Divinity School, and the Clinical Pastoral Education program at Vanderbilt Medical Center. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corp, fighting in the Korean War, and was a survivor of the “Frozen Chosin”. Mr. Barnett served his community by volunteering at the Nashville Zoo and at Southern Hills Hospital. He was a minister with the Tennessee Conference of the United Methodist Church, and also had a second career as a physical therapy assistant at Southern Hills Hospital. Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Sunday, February 5, 2017, from two to five o’clock in the evening and again on Monday, February 6, 2017, from eleven-thirty to one o’clock in the afternoon, with service to follow at one o’clock. Interment to take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial donations to Crievewood UMC Building Fund and/or the Nashville Zoo at Grassmere.
