

Thomas Ray Atwood, age 63, departed this life on January 8, 2021. He was born on August 5, 1957 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late William and Maxine Craig Atwood. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Jason Burnett; siblings, Sue Woodroof, Mickey Atwood and Bert Atwood.
He is survived by his sisters, Linda Atwood of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Jeanne Fields of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Janie (Gary) Redden of Hendersonville, Tennessee; nieces, Stephanie (Joseph) Wallace of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Lindsey Redden of Hendersonville, Tennessee, Hannah and Haylie Pina of Shelbyville, Tennessee; special friends, Steve Smeykal and Ricky Adams.
Ray had an outgoing personality, always laughing and trying to get others to laugh. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephew,, and he was more like a father and grandfather to them than an uncle. He was a very talented artist, and musician, who played both electric and acoustic guitar. Ray's passions and hobbies included nature, birds, animals, fishing , hiking, rock collecting and most of all spending time with his family and friends.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from four until eight o'clock in the evening on Monday, January 11, 2021.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at two-thirty in the afternoon on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in Dignity Hall at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with Deacon Felix Maxwell to officiate. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
