Vaunez Smith Brakebill of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on April 11, 2016, after a courageous struggle with lung cancer. She was born on January 13, 1933, to James Frank and Dessie Pate Smith, and grew up in Franklin, Tennessee. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Carl Brakebill; and son, John Thomas Brakebill. She is survived by her children, Nancy Herndon (Steve), Mark Brakebill, and Diane Canady (Terry); grandchildren, Brandon Shively, Alyssa Herndon, Bentley Canady, and Preston Canady. Visitation will be held at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, 2016, from ten o’clock in the morning until noon, with graveside service to follow at noon. Vaunez loved flowers and asked that she have them around her while she was living. In lieu of flowers at this time, memorials may be made to Alive Hospice or your favorite animal shelter.
