In 1972 he became one of Metro Nashville’s most dedicated and finest Fire Fighter unl he was injured in line of duty at a warehouse fire on Chestnut Street July 1990. His injuries were so severe he had to ‘set the bucket down’. He was no longer physically able to fight fires anymore, but that did not stop him. He was very grateful to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous which freed him from past problems with alcohol, so, he spent his me helping others suffering from the disease. 1996 he volunteered to help get a drug and alcohol treatment center started in Burns, TN, Discovery Place. He was a very happy and loving human being, always willing to help others in any way he could. He would help build and repair homes, treatment centers, furniture, and anything made of wood. He would help other suffering alcoholics by telling his story and sing up all night with them if necessary. He loved the game of golf and would help teach them another way to live through playing golf, geng out of self, and learning to live ‘One Day at a Time’.
A special thanks to all the Hospice nurses and supporng staff at Genva Hospice who gave such tender loving care to both of us during the last days of his illness.
