Wanda Joyce Bateman passed into her eternal home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ, on November 7, 2018 after a brief illness. Wanda was born to parents Clayton Lee and Marietta McNatt Bateman in Booneville Tennessee on November 20, 1928. Her family moved to Shelbyville, Tennessee and later to Nashville where she graduated from Central High School. Wanda had a very successful career as a CLU and Financial Planner with Fidelity Mutual Insurance Company subsidiary Wood, Bateman, and Associates. Attaining her CLU in 1966, she was a pioneer as a woman in the insurance industry and became president of the Nashville Association of Life Underwriters in 1978-79.
Wanda was predeceased by parents Clayton Lee and Marietta McNatt Bateman, and brother Aaron Clayton Bateman. She is survived by brother Ben Carlyle Bateman Sr, nieces Patricia Bateman McLean (John) and Lisa Bateman Snoddy (Tony), nephews Ben Carlyle Bateman Jr (Dianne) and Aaron Lee Bateman, five great nephews, two great nieces, two great great nephews, and three great great nieces.
Wanda was a 70 year member of Judson Baptist Church, active in Sunday School and the Judson Jewels. She became a member of Mt. Juliet First Baptist Church after she moved to Rutland Place in 2015. A celebration of life will be held Monday November 12, 2018 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton funeral home at 11:30 with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Dr. Raymond Langlois will be officiating.
