

Bill was the beloved son of Hubbs and Myrtle (Hollingsworth) Summers. He grew up in Camden, Tennessee, and demonstrated academic excellence by graduating high school at the age of 16. He furthered his education by attending the University of Tennessee at Martin for two years.
On October 19, 1951, Bill enlisted in the Army, where he served for two years. He married Christine Bouldin of Boaz, Alabama, on July 7, 1953, and together they raised two sons and a daughter. His career included significant contributions at the Nashville Veterans Administration and Hudson Automotive in Detroit. Bill also dedicated 27 years to the Army National Guard, retiring in December 1986 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, where he managed the Property and Fiscal office. Following his military career, he worked for the State of Tennessee in various capacities until his retirement a decade later.
Bill had a passion for traveling, gardening, and watching football. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage, and his granddaughter, Catherine L. Summers.
He is survived by his children: William Cameron Summers Jr. (Cindy) of Clarksville, Tennessee; Stephen Mitchell Summers of Miami, Florida; and Elizabeth Lucinda Summers of Lavergne, Tennessee. Bill is also survived by his grandchild, Christina L. Martin (Heath), and great-grandchildren Reagan, Paul, and Chloe Martin.
Bill's life was marked by dedication to his family, service to his country, and a love for the simple joys of life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A gathering of Family & Friends to honor Bill's legacy will be 9:30am till 11:00am on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with the celebration of life service to follow at 11:00am.
Committal service will be 1:00pm on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Middle Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 931 McCrory Lane, Nashville, Tennessee.
