start tonight with scripture. It soothes the soul of those who believe.
Matthew 5:4
Blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted.
Psalm 34:18
The Lord is close to the broken hearted; he saves those who’s spirit is
broken.
My mom was born in San Benito Texas on March 24, 1930. She is survived by 8 children, 22 grand hildren and 13 great grand children. After being born in Texas she is taken to Mexico where she grew up.
My mom had a tough life growing up, being the money maker up until the time she got married. When she got married things didn’t get any easier. She birthed 8 children and now she had a different challenges. Things got even worse however when my father passed away. Now, she became a
single mom with eight children. This is where things get interesting. At approximately 50 years old, mom leaves Mexico and heads to the US to reclaim her citizenship. This is in an attempt to save her family and
provide a better life for them. And that’s exactly what she did.
I tell you this story because it talks about my mother’s strength and resilience. And also it talks about the great love she had for us, her children. She didn’t abandon us. She didn’t forget about us. My mother
lived and breathed family. She showed through example what a dedicated mother was. She never said she was a great mother, she just did it. Her actions showed me what mattered most. And what mattered most to my mother was her family. She taught me what it meant to be a mom. She worried about every single one of us whether we knew it or not. In spite of everything she had on her plate I never heard her say that she was tired.
I think the biggest way of honoring mom is to continue her love for our family through each other. To love each other the way she loved us and to be there for one another the way she was there for us. When you have a mom, you can always come home. So now let’s be a home for each other. Mom would like that.
I will say that my mother was, is and will always be cherished. She will be cherished by those of us who knew her best. By those of us who know everything my mom lived through and survived. She will be missed terribly but some of us have hope that one day we will be together again.
I will close with Job 19:25-26
For I know that my redeemer lives, and that he shall stand at the latter day
upon earth:
26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall
I see God:
