July 18, 1942 – September 10, 2025
Guillermo Gordoa Riojas, 83, passed away on September 10, 2025, in El Centro, California. Born on July 18, 1942, in El Paso, Texas, Guillermo lived a full and colorful life, defined by his love for family, horses, and a good story.
A proud cowboy, Guillermo had a deep connection to the land and horses. He was one hell of a mechanic and welder always ready to take on any project with grit and know-how. In the kitchen, he was a self-taught chef whose creativity often matched his storytelling—bold, flavorful, and just a little embellished. His stories were legendary, always laced with humor, heart, and just enough exaggeration to keep everyone laughing.
Guillermo’s greatest joy came from his family. He had a deep and abiding love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
He is survived by his long-time partner and wife, Gloria Vasquez; his children Adela Riojas, Julieta Montanio, Ulysses Riojas, Sarah Riojas and Eloisa Riojas, stepchildren Martin Ozuna, Ruby Ozuna, and Rudy Ozuna and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Guillermo was preceded in death by his parents, Luis Gordoa and Adela Riojas; his brother, Anthony Gordoa; and his beloved sons Eduardo “Eddie” Riojas and Guillermo “Willie” Riojas and stepson Carlos Ozuna.
He will be dearly missed, fondly remembered, and forever loved.
