Agatha was born November 10th, 1934, in Carmen, Manitoba. She was one of 8 children born to Corneilius and Agatha Thiessen. She attended Rosenheim School in Rosenfeld, Manitoba. At age 17 she went to work for MTS, April 16th, 1951. She started in Elm Creek, Manitoba, later went on to work in Emerson, then onto Winnipeg. She worked in telecommunications working her way up to management. After 40 years she took an early retirement, December 31, 1991, to be home to take care of her ailing mother.
Agatha loved to travel and went on several trips with her good friend Annie. In 2009 she traveled to BC for her nephews, sons first birthday and baptism. While there she did some sightseeing and even dipped her toe in the Pacific Ocean. She loved sports, football, hockey but most of all curling. She even did a bit of curling herself.
Agatha loved entertaining her family, especially at Christmas and Easter gatherings were always very large. She always had enough food for everyone, sometimes as many as 30 or more family members.
In 2011, Agatha was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease. She decided to sell her home and moved into Bethel Place where her sister Susan lived. Susan passed away February 2016. Around 2018 it became harder for Agatha to function on her own and she then moved August 1st, 2018, to Bethania Personal Care home. She was very well liked there and well taken care of. Many loved being around her and chatting. They will miss her. She resided there until her passing October 7th, 2026.
