OBITUARY

(Allan) Dwight Cleghorn

2 July, 195618 April, 2021

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our son, brother, and uncle, at the age of 64 years. Dwight is survived by parents Don and Berna Cleghorn of Winnipeg; sister Arla (William); nephew Dion, of California, and numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his younger brother Blake. From an early age Dwight had a passion for all sports, particularly hockey, curling, and baseball. During school he participated in multiple teams and curled with the Charleswood Curling Club. Dwight continued to play baseball as a young adult, as well as golf, which became a lifelong pastime for him. Throughout the years, Dwight and his Dad shared many happy hours together watching sports on TV. Always an excellent student, Dwight graduated from the University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Science degree, followed by a Bachelor of Commerce (honours) degree. For many years he enjoyed success as a Stockbroker and Financial Advisor. As a university student, Dwight travelled the world, backpacking on a shoestring budget. Thailand became a favourite destination in later years. We would like to thank the Grace Hospital staff on 3 South, and Dr. Janower for her thoughtful communication with our family. Many thanks to Barry, Betty, and Sue, for all their help and support. A Celebration of Life will be held for Dwight when the Pandemic is behind us. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the charity of your choice.

Thinking about your family at this sad time. I haven’t seen Dwight for years. But I do remember the days when he was busy with my boys and all the dumb things they would do. Please take care of yourselves. And always remember the happy days the family had over the years. Love Pat

I am very sad to hear about the passing of Dwight. He and I were good friends in our twenties. We curled together at Charleswood, golfed and had many good times. My condolences to his family and friends.

This saddened me. The memory of Dwight made me smile immediately. We lost touch after we went to University and headed in separate directions. But he was an amazing person to know. He was a person who left an impression on me in all the right ways.
We sent our condolences.

Very saddened to hear of Dwight's passing. We had not been in touch for many years, but he was the Best Man at my wedding. Lots of great memories and laughs - curling, parties & trips to the lake.
Awesome sense of humour and could be a tad obscure at times, but a stalwart friend in our youth. Always a sense that he was the smartest person in the room but he never let on.
The good ones get taken early it seems. He will be missed. Rest easy my friend.
Deepest sympathies to Don, Berna and Arla.
