It is great sadness that we announce the sudden death of Dean Alfred Carriere. He passed away in his home on Tuesday, October 7th, 2025 at the age of 50.
Dean is survived by his two children that made him a hockey dad, Samuel and Sutter (their mother Cassie Carriere); his mother, Donna Carriere; his loving partner, Lisa Sullivan, and Lisa's children, Michael (Jules), Karsten and Lexi. Dean was predeceased by his father, Oscar Carriere.
Dean grew up a "country boy" in Lorette, spending his time playing hockey, racing snowmobiles, and building friendships that would last his entire lifetime. Anyone who said the name, Dean Carriere, knew him because they either saw him play hockey, played hockey with him, or played hockey against him. If Dean was nowhere to be found, his parents could always find him at the rink. Throughout his life, Dean was an honorary family member in many families around Lorette. This continued with neighbours on Convent Crescent - enjoying driveway bonfires, impromptu get-togethers or just an afternoon beer to catch up. Those neighbours became another "family" to him.
Dean became an Electrician out of high school and early in his career worked in Fort McMurray, but his heart always remained in Manitoba. Dean returned to Lorette to start his family, and spent the last 8 years being an Estimator with Trotco Electric as their Project Estimator, something he took pride in.
Dean's greatest accomplishment are his two sons, Sam and Sutter. They were his pride and joy of every single day. He devoted many hours to coaching hockey, driving to every practice and game he could whether he had the time or not. He’d spend hours talking hockey strategy and skill, helping pass on his passion for a sport he loved to share with them. That void is one no one else can fill. We will always look to the corner of the rink for you.
Amongst Dean's huge smile, quick wit, sharp sense of humour, and his genuine concern for others, were his incredible cooking skills. Dean believed good food should be shared with those he loved. If there was a hockey party, a brisket was on the menu; a family dinner with his mom, or the kids was something he would prepare for weeks ahead of time. It brought him joy to feed others. As a Foodie, Dean knew every new restaurant, or unknown grocery store; he somehow always had the inside information on where to find the best meat, or obscure spice. We may not know what was ever in that special sauce, but we'll never forget the meals and how special Dean made everyone feel by his efforts in the kitchen.
He will be greatly missed by family members and many friends. Until we meet again, Dean.
A Celebration of Life honouring Dean will be held on Monday, October 27th, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lorette Parish Hall, 1282 Dawson Road, Lorette, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a Trust Fund at Caisse Financial Group, Lorette Branch for Sam and Sutter to help fund playing they sport they love.
