Edward Creighton had a great sense of humour and was always joking around. He knew how to make everyone feel at ease. Ed was affectionate, loving, quick-witted, and generous. He loved his family very much, and his pets as well. He could often be found watching sports with his pipe or a good cigar. Ed was often puttering outdoors, fixing things around the house, or going for a drive.
He grew up in Elmwood, where he played hockey, football, baseball, basketball, and excelled at track and field. Ed loved spending time fishing, swimming, and being outdoors at Dorothy Lake.
Ed started dating the love of his life, Linda, in high school. They were soon married and had nearly 52 wonderful years together. They went on to have three daughters, Tara, Jennifer, and Pamela. He taught them how to play sports, to fish, and would build doll houses, sandboxes, snow forts, ice rinks, slides, stilts and more for the girls.
He was a police officer for 31 years. Ed is survived by his wife Linda, his daughters Tara (Chris) and Pamela (Reuben), and brother Laurie (Jo-Ann), and mother-in-law, Ollie, and cousins, nieces, nephews and their children. He is predeceased by parents Walter and Jean, daughter Jennifer, sister Nancy, sister-in-law Sharon (Larry), and father-in-law John.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Pet Rescue Shelter.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at 2:00 pm at Green Acres Funeral Home. If you wish to join virtually, go to the 'Join Livestream' link in the Services tab below.
