She met and married Steve Schellenberg, and they settled in Winnipeg to raise their two beloved daughters, Tanis and Kristine. The family enjoyed memorable annual trips, from camping in the Black Hills and across Manitoba and Saskatchewan, to a special road trip to Florida that included highlights at Disney and Sea World.
After Steve's passing in 1986, Eva returned to school, earning her bookkeeping certificate. She worked as a bookkeeper and later as a caretaker for an apartment block.
Eva was an avid sports enthusiast, both playing and watching. She was a dedicated bowler and golfer, and a passionate fan of hockey, curling, baseball, and especially her favorite football team, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Eva dedicated her time to helping others through various volunteering roles. She was a faithful, long-time member of her church's Harvest Ministry, helped the ladies' group make quilts for donation, and served with MCC Disaster Relief as a cook in both New Orleans and Newfoundland.
Eva’s greatest joy was to gather around a table with her family for a meal. Her sweet and sour meatballs were always a favourite!
She will be profoundly missed by her daughters Tanis (Cameron) Gray and Kristine (Mike) Luik, her six granddaughters Stephanie (Harlen), Jaydyn (Tyler), Madison (Cody), Amanda (Ryan), Gabrielle and Elise and her four great-grandchildren, Rajeesh, Paxton, Khyson and Avaiya. She is also survived by her brother Jake and her sister Betty, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Steve, her parents John and Tina Loewen, sister and brother-in-law Tina and Ike Friesen, sister and brother-in-law Marie and Neil Neufeld, brother Frank Loewen, sister-in-law Sandra Loewen, brother-in-law Brian Toews and granddaughter Taylor Gray.
