It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, Gaston Julien Joseph Hacault, at the age of 80 in the early morning of Friday, June 27, 2025.
Gaston (Gus) was predeceased by his dear wife, Heather, his parents, Francois & Agathe Hacault, and mother & father-in law Stewart and Eva Hamilton, brothers & sisters Hubert (Marie) Hacault, Anna (Simon) Foidart, Louise (Archie) Despiegelaere, Adolphe Foidart, Bishop Antoine Hacault, Celine (Maurice) Tack, Benoit (Monica) Hacault, Jean (Odile, Lucille) Hacault, Jean Fifi, Louis Fiola, Germaine (Joey) Stevens, Dorothée (Mike) Solodiuk, Michel (Patricia) Hacault, Roland Hacault and sister-in-law Gail Hamilton.
Gaston is survived by his children Todd (Kim) and Kristina (Sam Lipnowski); grandchildren Danielle (Nicolas Oxton), Paul (Cidney Goodman) and Zachary; great grandchildren Everly and Easton; brothers & sisters Julie Foidart, Armand (Yvette) Hacault, Mathilde Fifi, Jeanne Fiola, Lucien (Simone) Hacault, Emile (Sylvie Rondeau) Hacault; brothers & sisters-in-law Albert (Marianne Anderson) Hamilton, Glen (Carleen) Hamilton, Ron (Anne-Marie) Hamilton, David (Shelley) Hamilton, Rick (Sharon) Hamilton, Janice (Paul Oliver) Hamilton, Lorna (Steven Hadican) Hamilton; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad and Mom married in 1970 and began their life together in Bruxelles, Manitoba, before settling in Lorette. Once there, Dad quickly became a proud and active member of the community. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus and served as Grand Knight for a time, coached baseball even before his own children played, managed hockey teams, sang in the church choir, and volunteered in numerous community events. He was well known for his incredible baking, especially his fresh bread and desserts, which often filled the Hacault home with the most inviting aroma. Dad had a booming voice and a distinct, contagious laugh that could light up a room and bring smiles to everyone around him. He also had a lifelong love of country music and cards; decks of cards could always be found close at hand wherever he went. He made it known to everyone just how much he loved the Montreal Canadiens, cheering them on with unwavering loyalty through every season. Win or lose, his heart belonged to the Habs.
In the mid-1980s, Dad began selling Tupperware, earning the nickname “the Tupperware man” and never missing an opportunity to make a sale. Together with Mom, they eventually became Tupperware managers, forming lasting friendships and sharing many laughs along the way. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time at farmers' markets across southern Manitoba. Above all, Gus loved his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren deeply and was endlessly proud of each one of them.
Dad lived a life full of love, laughter and community. We take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with loved ones, likely playing cards or dancing the night away with mom by his side once again.
As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Gaston’s memory to a charity of one's choice.
