It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of J. Edward Arsene Lavergne, beloved husband of Justina (Jay) for 60 years. He leaves to mourn his children, Roger (Debra), David (Nancy), Barbara (Derrick), and Joanne (Randy); grandchildren Glen (Amy), Cindy (Peter), Ryan, Megan, Marc, Matthew, Brendan, Alyssa, and Katelyn; and great-grandchildren Kaden, Malek, Abby and Elly. He will be sadly missed by his last surviving brother, Real (Mildred), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dad was born on January 6, 1930 in Lorette, Mb. and passed away at St. Boniface hospital with his wife by his side. Dad was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Steinbach, St. Emile, Anola), Anola Museum, Manitoba Antique and Classic Car Club, Dots and Dash (Telegrapher’s magazine) and the Railway Museum (CN Station).
Dad loved listening to music, reading and collecting coins and cars. He loved books on cars, trains and National Geographic magazines. His happiest years were spent in Vivian working on his old cars and feeding the wildlife.
Dad instilled his love of trains and antique cars with his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you,
And whispered, “Come to me”.
You didn’t deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
And when we saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain,
We could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 on Thursday, November 10, 2011, at Our Lady of Hope, Anola, Mb. with Father Carl Tarnopolski and Father Blanchette officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit.
We love you Dad.
