Julia Foster

Sadly, our family have lost a beloved mother, grandmother and best friend – our hearts are broken. Mom passed peacefully with her family at her side on the morning of April 17 2021 at Grace Hospital. She was a woman who loved her family fiercely and always had a quick smile or joke to share. She loved to travel both by motorhome or by cruise ship and had many adventures in her lifetime. She was known in her old neighbourhood as the Queen of tomatoes and would gladly share her crop. Travelling with Dad they would head to the mountains and camp in Jasper in the summer. It was one of their favorite places to be with the beautiful landscape and the many elk who would often visit their site. Once Dad retired they headed to Phoenix Arizona for the winter months where they made many friends and enjoyed the weather. After Dad passed Mom turned her attention to cruising where she completed 18 cruises with her daughter and even one with her granddaughter. She visited places like Italy, France, Spain, Greece, Hawaii, Alaska, and many Caribbean islands including a complete Panama Canal cruise. And she loved every minute.

Mom gave up travelling at age 80 but not her tomato growing. She maintained her small garden and demanded her son put in stakes each year. She continued this right to the last year in the house on Nottingham Av. When the house became too much to manage, she moved to Kildonan House in Oct 2019 where they loved her as well. She still always maintained her quick wit and left them laughing. They will miss her there too.

Mom was predeceased by her beloved Husband Ron Foster with whom she shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. As well her parents Henry and Mary Janzen, her brothers Art Johnson & Ralph Janzen as well as sisters Dorothy Enns and Evelyn Voth all passed before her.

Grieving her passing are her children - Daughter - Sandie Foster (Michael Masyoluk who always made her laugh), Son - Brian Foster & beloved daughter in law Karen Foster. She also has 2 treasured grandchildren – Kristen Foster and Jordan Foster ( Tara Thomson) plus many nieces and nephews. She was very proud of her family and would brag about them to anyone who would listen and even those who would not.

The family wishes to thank Grace Hospital for their care and exceptional kindness during Mom’s last days. She is gone too soon.

She will be greatly missed. Love you Mom.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service has been held.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Grace Hospital or the Alzheimer’s Society.
